Live Painting – Children’s book:

Witness and be a part of the visual creation of the ‘Rise and Shine’ childrens’ book as it comes to life!

Our unique concept for Lightning in a Paintcan at this festival is to curate a selection of 10-15 extraordinary Live Painters who collectively participate and paint a page that will be part of an extraordinary and beautiful book. Each artists art will correspond along a storyline – a stanza that they have selected from a story written by Marsi Frey, (visionary and producer for the Do Lab) – that will be placed beside the canvas that they are working on. They will receive the story in advance of the festival and select which stanza/page they choose to paint. All of the artwork will come together to create a childrens book as a completed project – that reflects on the festival and the story called ‘Rise and Shine’. For each book that is purchased, one will be donated to an organization for underserved youth and/or a childrens hospital. (Information on these causes is forthcoming.) The attendees of the festival can go from artist to artist to read the story and see the images being unveiled to them during the festival – as artists are actively creating the work. The paintings will be for sale/via silent auction – but with the understanding that they will be photographed after the festival completion for this book to be created.

The selection of curated artists, causes and the written story will be posted on this website by September 15th! (please note that this is not an open submission process, but a curated selection of artists – live painters will be encouraged to paint in Art Temple, but not on the field).
